BLS reporting glitch?

Every month the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports on the number of unemployed persons per job opening. It has remained unchanged for 10 months. That seems very unlikely.

Interesting. Actually, the number has been relatively flat for the past 24 months.

I think that’s a sign that people who want to work are, in general, working. I agree, the flat line does look a bit strange.

It could be a rounding error. The BLS table attached to that chart shows the bodies per job at 0.7.

If you go to the table of total private job openings, there is variation of a few hundred thousand.

Then, of course, with only 0.7 people for every job opening, why would the “JCs” create more “jobs”?..though I am sure someone will insist the “JCs” need another tax cut to “create jobs”.

No significant new jobs = no tax cuts for the alleged JCs. Make them EARN it.

We have been seeing several states trying to address the shortage of bodies to work by changing child labor laws to allow more hours of work and more dangerous work for 15 year olds. Then there is Plan Steve, to withhold SS payments and impose a work requirement for Medicare, to force able bodied geezers back into the workforce, until they are so feeble and broken down the “JCs” don’t want them anymore.

The simple thing would be to increase the number of legal immigrants, but the racists would not allow that. The mind boggles what would happen if a “thought leader’s” plan to deport millions of Hispanics was realized.

And all the rest of us need to adjust to the plain fact that more Mexicans are now returning home to Mexico than are migrating al norte to work. They are currently being somewhat replaced by central and south american immigrants, but that will not last forever either.

That “thought leader” appears to be Hispanic and has no papers. DEPORT HIM !!!

I had not heard that. If so, that is interesting. A “thought leader” was complaining that no-one from northern Europe moves to Shiny-land. He cried that only people from countries more corrupt, more violent, with worse education and health care systems, wanted to move to Shiny-land.

The evening network news had a piece a week or so back about the USians moving to Europe. Interestingly, the UK was not one of the major destinations. France, Germany, Spain and Portugal were favored. The piece included interviews with a couple USians who moved to Portugal. iirc, their reasoning for why the move came down to factors like being able to go to the grocery store without worrying about being shot.

Meanwhile, among the daily carnage in metro Detroit, five people shot in argument over a parking spot.

Remember that the flood of Mexican illegal migrants was in the 80s after the Reagan Immigration Bill (that I supported!) led not to the promised enforcement of immigration laws but their abandonment. The JC’s had pulled their fast one.

Now those 80’s era workers, smelling the same opportunity as I did to spend their USA dollars retirement savings in far more inexpensive Mexico, are retiring back to home.
