BREAKING NEWS! mRNA vaccines don't work

And then a bunch of his cult members started conducting those experiments themselves.

Some people say there is no such thing as a stupid question. Maybe, maybe not. But there is certainly ill-timed or ill-thought questions.

That is what TPTB are expecting. Just because the US goes retrograde, doesn’t mean the search for knowledge ends everywhere. Have other countries pay for the sciency stuff. If the USian big dogs want something, they can buy it. Meanwhile, they can have another tax cut off of the money the US government is not spending on sciency stuff.

the reply from gcr2016 is what I’m talking about when I say Trump supporters twist themselves into a pretzel to sanewash his lunacy. I watched that conference with my own eyes, watched and listened to Trump make those remarks. If Biden had ever made remarks like that, he would have been vilified. Trump supporters did try ingesting disinfectants after his remarks. And there was no sarcasm in Trump’s voice when he made those remarks, none.

Sane-washing happens on both ends of the spectrum. It just seems like it’s worse for TFG supporters because they have to explain away more stuff. He was convicted of 34 felonies. He was close friends with arguably the most notorious underage sex trafficker in history. And on, and on, and on.

One day someone will write a book on how he managed to captivate so much support…oh wait, there’s like a bazillion already! Here’s one -

Spoiler alert! It’s less about TFG’s masterful genius, and more about his supporters’ willingness to defend the indefensible.

I can only speak for myself. DT does say some incredibly stupid things; but so does every other politician on any given subject.

I’ll repeat what I posted earlier. under any reasonable interpretation of his words, he didn’t explicitly suggest people should inject themselves with bleach or other household disinfectants.

I guess the key words are " reasonable interpretation. Some people can’t be reasonable when talking about DT.

Both-siding this is how we get into this mess. What is needed is people to recognize that while “everyone does it”, T does it an order of magnitude worse than others. And that matters. This should be a “reasonable interpretation” of the situation.

This is the talk of mob bosses. “I didn’t explicitly order my guy to kill that guy”.

Trump’s power comes from casusal idiots who are being pulled along by his most addicted followers, mostly of two types:

  1. Religious [pseudo-] Christians who imagine (Jerry Falwel Jr told them so!!!) that his nibs is Chosen of God to Salvage History by RETURNING the USA to its GOD purposed intent of dominating the world in God’s Name, even though he is a miserably immoral man, like Darius the Great of Persia (don’t come back to me with complaints about the nonsense history of both the Bible and its fanatic GodsWord believers)
  2. Stunning numbers of TV addicted Idiots who loved the Reality Show The Apprentice, who did not comprehend that it was a largely scripted fake satire on bidnizmen of mighty knowledge.

Escaping murder by a fraction of an inch in PA probably made believers out of a lot of people…and his nibs feeds that narrative.

The reality is that most people don’t go back and parse with precision the utterances of a person with such an exalted microphone. They hear what they hear and then take it as fact - or not. And that is why we occasionally have their “handlers” walk back some announcement saying they were misconstrued or “need to be clarified.”

That’s why Presidential statements are so carefully written, so as to take into account the kinds of things which foreign leaders may interpret from the tea leaves contained therein. When leaders are in unscripted settings (such as press conferences) you will often see them pause while thinking about the responses - not because they don’t have one but because they’re trying to anticipate and diminish any possibility of misinterpretation.

At least that’s what Obama, Biden, Bush Jr., Bush Sr. and their forebears did. This one lacks the gene which allows them to self edit, or make sense of anything, really. Who stands up on live national television in the midst of a pandemic and idly speculates about disinfectants or strong light inside the body ?

There was a series, in Doonesbury, over forty years ago, about a second rate actor that uttered nonsense when he didn’t have a script to read. He did not have that self-editing capability either.

Oh, there you go again…

I would like to think I’m a reasonable person; and I saw that when it originally happened and my immediate thought was exactly “that he was suggesting people ingest bleach to cure covid”! Sure, it is easy to walk that back, but doesn’t change the immediate impression.
