I think the standoff is declared after the second party of the dispute sends their repartee.
Mexico and Canada have sent their messages. Reportedly, when TNG phoned the Danes, to try to bully them into ceding Greenland, one of the Danes told TNG to, literally, 'f- off"
I suspect this pushback to result in TNG arranging another “show” to intimidate them. First up will be invading Panama. That isn’t so special. Bush 41 did the same thing. If that doesn’t intimidate them, then invade Greenland. Probably nothing will happen, same as during the “Cod war” between Iceland and the UK, both NATO members, or when Turkey invaded Cyprus, after the Green junta instigated a coup. If NATO does anything, it will probably be to expel the US. TNG will say “good”. Then use the sea corridors between Alaska and the US, and Greenland and the US, to blockade Canada.
