China reportedly said "why would we make the same mistakes you made" and pulls iPhone workers from Apple's India plants

China is requiring Foxconn to recall experienced Chinese workers from Apple’s India plants.
This move prevents experienced Chinese workers from training Indian counterparts.
China wants to prevent it’s neighbors from developing a manufacturing base that would compete with China.

China was supported in its development by US n west. China does not want to share.
Our L&Ss from 1960-2016 blew it.

This move by China is reminiscent of the recent US West effort to prevent transfer of high end IC n AI tech to China.
China has responded with Chinese DIY tech that potentially leap frogs US n West tech.

This move by China to restrict transfer of tech knowledge to India (and other countries?) perhaps opens the door for India, Apple, n other countries to, in turn, leap frog Chinese manufacturing n tech.

{There was no official statement from neither Foxconn nor Apple on the matter but earlier this year, Chinese officials verbally encouraged regulatory agencies and local governments to curb technology transfers and equipment exports to India and Southeast Asia, in a possible bid to prevent companies from shifting manufacturing elsewhere. }

Apple is one of the FAANG n Magnificent 7 stocks in the SPY n QQQ.
Apple products are macroeconomically important.
The geopolitical landscape is causing problems for Apple.

This never works, people find a way around this every time.

Another way of pointing out that by outsourcing manufacturing we no longer maintain that expertise. Other countries are more up to date from their own continuous improvement programs.

India is working on building those skills. The U.S. seems not very interested.

The news is more nuanced than simply pulling workers. Some production will be back in the US. Foxconn is Taiwanese not Chinese.

Apple engineers may have more to do with the controls than China in all regards.
