The electric utility in Saskatchewan is making further progress to develop nuclear power in the western part of the country.

Following a thorough assessment of several Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technologies, SaskPower has selected the GE-Hitachi BWRX-300 for potential deployment in Saskatchewan in the mid-2030s.

“This is an important milestone as Saskatchewan works towards a cleaner, more sustainable future,” said Don Morgan, Minister responsible for SaskPower.

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) announced late last year they are also going with the GE-Hitachi BWRX-300 for the existing Darlington nuclear power station.

Canada already has some of the lowest carbon electricity in the world, with large amounts of hydropower, as well as nuclear, mostly in Ontario.

Yeah, you would never know it if you listen to certain people would you? The Carbon Tax has been a major factor as well.

Blaming the producers of still needed fuel is like blaming the cook for making you fat.

Stupidest excuse I have ever heard.

We should not blame tobacco companies for lung cancer and other illnesses.
We should not blame gun makers for children and teachers being murdered by assault weapons.
We should not blame heroin/fentanyl/acid/ producers and drug dealers for deaths and addictions.

I could go on for hours.

Dirty Canadian emissions:

However, clean electricity is not the most important sector for CO2 emissions and air/water pollution. Canada has very dirty fossil fuel business that drives their CO2 emissions sky high. And besides CO2, the mining, drilling and processing of fossil fuels in Canada produces massive quantities of toxic materials released to the air and water. Saudi Arabi, Australia, Canada and USA lead G20 world countries in per capita CO2 emissions.
