BA.4, BA.5 Variants Rise Among U.S. Covid-19 Cases
Omicron subvariants appear yet more contagious than other versions of the virus causing latest case surge

The bad news is that the new Covid variants can reinfect people who have had Covid before (or been vaccinated). The good news is that deaths aren’t rising yet even though hospitalizations from this latest surge are rising (lagging the start of the new surge). Deaths lag ICU admissions.

A friend of mine (vaccinated) just got Covid and is really suffering though not enough to go to the hospital. So beware – even “mild” cases of Covid can be nasty. Continue precautions.
