It’s an article written for NPR. So every local NPR station added it to their web site.
Try searching for “How are Colleges confronting overdose” or “The world’s oldest solar calendar may have been unearthed”. You’ll get the same large number of mostly identical hits.

It’s undoubtedly something automated. But not AI.
If I were to hazard a bunch of guesses all at once, it would be that NPR provides the basic web sites for their affiliate stations, who then personalize it. Most of the content is then dropped in by NPR. National articles go to everyone, regional articles go to those in the region. Local articles would be all that each station adds on their own.
