AI tells me you employ 10,000 people on H-1B visas. At a a cool $100,000 per, it seems you owe somebody a billion. This year. Feel free to pay up, or send them home.
Microsoft gets off pretty easy, only 5,000 of them. You owe $500 million.
Apple? 4,000. Chump change, really, you only owe $400 million.
Meta: you also owe $400 million.
Google? You too.
But not a problem, I’m sure there are 30,000 well trained Americans thirsting for those computer jobs. Better get at it.
And pay attention to the CEO of everything, now and forever. Hooray for us. I think.
Well, I wonder where the tipping point is for corporate America? As he adds more and more costs/expenses, how much will they just swallow, and pay up? Such a smarty business guy, eh?
The fee has changed. Today it only applies to new H-1B visas, and is a one-time fee paid when the visa is issued. The H-1B system was broken (the lottery system allowed middleman to take a cut), and so maybe the new fee will be good for the macro economy. New hiring of college graduates is down, and so there might be qualified U.S. citizens today. There weren’t 4 years ago, but the economy is changing.
