What would it cost to police the program better? When Michigan tried to implement TFGâs Medicaid work requirement, the sponsoring (L&Ses) said it would cost more to enforce, than it might save in Medicaid spending, but they were pursuing it to try to force people to take crummy âjobsâ the âJCsâ were complaining they could not fill at what they wanted to pay.

The money stabilizes farm production. Less food goes to waste.
Elon will fix it using AI and tech.
Again, this does not appear to be true. According to https://www.uspsoig.gov/sites/default/files/reports/2024-08/risc-ri-24-007.pdf
the number of USPS workers was 628,861 in 2019 and 636,966 in 2023. About 8100 adds over the 4 year period. Considering they have a presence in practically every nook and cranny of the country this seems low. They are also delivering packages for the all the major online retailers rather than envelopes of hope, happy birthdays, Merry Christmas and other human affections.

**WOW USPS has seen a 80% DECREASE in volume of mail but ADDED 190,000 employees
**
How stupid can Rand Paul be. In 1990 there were approximately 761,000 USPS employeeâs. In 2023 there were 525,469 employees.
Now how many homes did we have in 1990?
102, 263,678
And in 2023
145,344,366
Now go get a job where you have to have much less to do more work and then you will understand what the USPS is going through. Yet if Rand Paul misses his mail I am sure he wonât be happy.
Corruption!!! You speak of corruption and expect to get anything but corruption from this administration led by probably the most corrupt criminal grifter to ever besmirch the office. Get real.
You do not know when you are blatantly lied to.
We are damning intelligent conversations.
Stop spreading lies. If you can not think like an adult move on.
The Postal Service navigated a volatile U.S. labor market in recent years and saw declining mail volume and a growing share of packages impact the composition of its workforce. Between fiscal years (FYs) 2019 and 2023, USPS added 8,105 employees â a 1.3 percent increase over the 5-year period.Aug 15, 2024
If you donât already know he is WAY behind everyone else. Meaning: He has a LOT of stupid to catch up to.
You should probably talk to his neighbor. I betcha he would disagree.
His neighbor agrees Rand Paul is WAY behind everyone elseâand getting further and further behind.
Is this a trick question?
First, he gets the actual figure wrong. Itâs so easy to find one thinks he must be lying rather than making a simple mistake.
Second, the business has changed markedly. Handling envelopes and junk mail is easy. Itâs nearly entirely automated up to the point where it has to be hand delivered to homes. Handling packages is markedly more difficult, requiring hand sorting and loading at multiple points in the delivery chain - including more time putting packages on the vehicle and more time walking to and from the front porch of the recipient.
So, again: âHow stupid can Rand Paul be?â
Not so stupid that he wonât get stupid people to repeat his stupidity.
I only hope that we can finally get rid of the Department of Redundancy Department.
The Federal government computers & software are in such bad shape that they often cannot verify that payments are not fraud, waste or abuse!
Looks like Doge is going to be spending money not saving it. Just what we need another agency that finds ways to spend more money.
This is a very good point. As someone who has worked with the federal government I think DOGE will find that increasing government efficiency will require a substantial investment in government.
This not only includes investing in computers and software, but also increasing pay and benefits to workers so that government can compete for the best and brightest who are now going into the private sector.
This wasnât as necessary in the past when the nation saw government work as an honorable service to the country (see West Wing). But since weâve spent the last 20 years trashing everything from the EPA to the FBI to the USPS, government service isnât nearly as attractive.
Sad.
Lots of energy is being spent on this board commenting on hypotheticals. Looks to me like the incoming administration is just throwing out stuff to see what sticks. Perhaps best to wait until something significant is accomplished by the incoming administration, which based on their last effort may be a long wait.
Finally, here is something DOGE can consider that would be a $100B improvement to the deficit/debt in reduced spending and increased tax revenue. Given that Musk fervently believes fossil fuel powered cars and electricity generation are obsolete technology that should be replace by BEVs and solar/battery, this should be a no-brainer. The Biden-Harris 2024 budget proposed to eliminate $96B in fossil fuel subsidies and tax breaks.
