DOGE strikes again

Are these research grants that are applied to and won/awarded through a selection process? Then why is it suprising that a leading academic university would be getting them? Wouldnt it be more suspicious if they went to your local community college?

Most of the private companies that are making a huge profit in any field re benefiting from this basic and clinical research that is public domain (or for you tech mindes people “open source”). There is no money in doing this research in its early stages. Good portions are proven wrong and we learn more about how the world or the human body works. But its needed to get to the next step. No for profit companies would survive even a few quarterly reports with huge expense lines and no revenue to show for it (most biotech companies fail. Hell most startups fail). It has to be done by academics that suddenly half of americans hate bc someone told them they were the elites to hate (despite making embarassingly low salaries compares to their private counterparts).

And any research that is done by private or for profit companies is hidden and barricaded behind NDAs, patents, and noncompetes. Never gets shared, doesnt broaden our understanding, further our scientific progress, or stimulate new discoveries. Hell we cant even replicate their findings, which is an essential final step in the scientific method and essential to public trust, bc they wont reveal how they did it.
