If the judge thought this was the case, it could have been decided that way within minutes after she originally got the case. That she didn’t rule this way makes it look as if she were waiting for something. That something came along when she parroted back Clarence Thomas’ assertions in his recent concurrent opinion, a nearly custom-made claim for her own.
The entire process has been slow walked. Remember how fast SCOTUS heard arguments and made a ruling on the Florida vote in 2000? Not this time. The court could have heard arguments on the immunity claim around December. Nope. In 2000, the court issued it’s decision in days. Now, the court didn’t issue it’s decision until the last day of the term.
2000 timeline: petition to SCOTUS Nov 22. Court agreed to hear case Nov 24. Court heard arguments Dec 1. Court ruled Dec 4.
On this go around: Smith petitioned SCOTUS to bypass District Court and take the case on December 11. Court refuses to hear case Dec 22. Jan 9 DC circuit heard arguments. Feb 6, DC circuit unanimously rules no immunity. Feb 28, SCOTUS agrees to hear the case. April 25: oral arguments. Decision issued July 1. Slow walked.
Exactly. TFG has lost every case he has brought to court. So now they are simply trying to delay, and SCOTUS is helping them. They know they cannot win in court. So the idea is to delay and hope he gets back into office. TFG is not running FOR something, he is running away from something (jail).
My thoughts and predictions:
The attempt was staged. The ear scrape was an unfortunate accident. The shooter was spotted before he even took the stage. No reports from the hospital. He never called the family of the victim. Golfing the next day. A stupid looking bandage yesterday that no medical professional would have put on him.
He will lose the electoral college.
They have plans to re-take the WH no matter the outcome of the election (why else are they already saying the election is rigged? Same playbook as 4 years ago)
This next time, however, the insurrection will be truly violent.
How this guy still has a following is deeply disturbing to me.
20% are news junkies breathing all of this stuff. Red or Blue.
80% think it is all lies and liars. They do not want a single discussion on this. Of them 65% vote.
The main issue to the 65% is price stability. Can they use their paycheck reliably to buy groceries? In their small business will their costs go up before the ink on their contracts is dry?
We have price stability.
The odd thing is after all of this and now the “he has won it already”, he is at 46% in the poll of polls 538. Our guy is at 45% with the marines hitting the fan. Our SIC VP has 45% as well.
If we rally we win.
58% of women support our guy. Women since 1980 have outvoted males in the general. The gender gap keeps widening every four years.
US authorities obtained intelligence from a human source in recent weeks on a plot by Iran to try to assassinate Donald Trump, a development that led to the Secret Service increasing security around the former president in recent weeks, multiple people briefed on the matter told CNN.
There’s no indication that Thomas Matthew Crooks, the would-be assassin who attempted to kill the former president on Saturday, was connected to the plot, the sources said.
Trump seems disfigured since the shooting. Looking at recent photos.
The polls have not changed since the debate at all. Except Trump’s job approval rating fell dramatically. He is at a 3 to 1 disapproval rating disadvantage to Biden, some -25 points to -8 points.
We have created price stability. That issue determines this.
Similar challenges to Special Councils have been lodged over and over and over and over again over the years and have been found to be uniformly without merit. Only an even more imaginative SCOTOS could change that.
Meanwhile, US and German intelligence broke up a Russian plot to assassinate the CEO of a Germans arms manufacturer.
But then, many of the same organizations assured us that Saddam had bought “yellow cake”, steel tubes for uranium enrichment centrifuges, and had “mobile bio-weapons labs”.
Who is the bad guy of the moment? Putin, except in the US, were all evil is from Iran.
SCOTUS could have ruled on the immunity claim in January, but they slow walked it for six months. Comparing how this was handled, vs the Florida vote in 2000, leads one to conclude that delaying the criminal cases until after the election was the intended outcome of the court’s slow walking.
Even when/if the criminal cases do come to trial, there will be endless delays while every Presidential action is adjudicated, one at a time, with regard to whether it was an “official act”, thus immune from criminal charges. Some people are expert at using the courts to delay endlessly.
Smith seeks to delay deadlines in Trump Jan. 6 case https://thehill.com/homenews/4819797-smith-seeks-to-delay-deadlines-trump-jan-6-case/
Special counsel Jack Smith asked for additional time to settle how to proceed with former President Trump’s Jan. 6 prosecution, asking to bump back a swift set of deadlines ignited when the case returned to a lower court…
By requesting a three-week delay in that filing, Smith is likely to disappoint those who have called for him to ask for an evidentiary hearing with live witness testimony ahead of the election…
Smith proposed that the two parties weigh in on Aug. 30, rather than Friday. The Aug. 16 hearing scheduled by Chutkan would likewise then need to be delayed.
Jack Smith, the special counsel who pursued two federal prosecutions of Donald J. Trump, plans to finish his work and resign along with other members of his team before Mr. Trump takes office in January, people familiar with his plans said…
It is not clear how quickly he can finish this work [issuing a final report] leaving uncertain whether it could be made public before the Biden administration leaves office. But several officials said he has no intention of lingering any longer than he has to, and has told career prosecutors and F.B.I. agents on his team who are not directly involved in that process that they can start planning their departures over the next few weeks, people close to the situation said.
