Elon Musk ‘Made a Bet for the Ages’

I think you’re being optimistic.

Presidents have a tradition of doing things in the first 100 days. I presume from when he takes office. After that Congress starts worrying about getting reelected in the next election. Yes, we seem to be talking about mid-May as 100 days from Jan 20 inauguration.

$6.75T in spending in 2024
$4.92T Revenue
$1.83T Deficit

I am sure that if Elon recruits the best from the private sector and employs Tech and AI to reform government using innovation, we can get to budget neutral or even budget surplus. Some of the targets are: Subsidies, Ukraine war, Energy imports/exports, Tariffs, Support for illegal immigrants, Defense, Interest on debt (lower fed rate), Bridges to nowhere, 450 Government agencies, 3 million fed employees

What is “The Establishment”?

Wikipedia defines it as follows:

“In sociology and in political science, the term The Establishment describes the dominant social group, the elite who control a polity, an organization, or an institution.”

By that definition, the cultural “Establishment” would be white males.
The economic “Establishment” would be the Fortune 500.
The social “Establishment” would be rich people.

As far as I can see, the only group consistently against the corrupt establishment is the Left. That’s why they consistently lose elections.

It’s cute how much fate you have in the ability of the private sector to control debt.

From Forbes:

“Corporate debt has increased to previously unheard-of heights as a result of ten years of historically low interest rates that encouraged excessive borrowing across industries. Often at great cost to long-term financial health, companies used cheap loans to drive stock buybacks, acquisitions, and expansions. Now fractures in the corporate debt scene are starting to show as interest rates climb in reaction to inflationary pressures and economic uncertainties.” The Debt Time Bomb: How Corporate Borrowing Could Cripple The Economy

Absolute fantasy. It’s been a fantasy since Ross Perot and Steve Forbes pounded the table for the Flat Tax 35 years ago. It’s not how the economy works, there are billions of dollars of invested interest in NOT doing that and it requires hard political choices which - especially - we Americans are not AT ALL interested in making.

Reminds me of the NYT subtitle:

Disillusionment with the world that emerged from the Cold War has fueled a long-gathering revolt against the established order.

The Establishment are the people who create the established order.

  • The Pilgrims didn’t like the English established order so they left
  • In America they overthrew the established order as did the Spanish, and the French
  • In Boston they didn’t like the Tea Tax so they overthrew the established order
  • The disagreement about slavery was so severe that America had a civil war to overthrow the established order
  • Lots more examples…
  • The electorate voted to overthrow the current established order

The vast VAST vast majority of excesses is in the military procurement area, and you can be sure that won’t be touched.

But if his experience with Twitter is any indication he’ll be cutting a lot of stuff that is important, only to discover later that “Wow, that was important, but I don’t care.”

Are there a lot of people at the FDA who aren’t needed? I don’t know but the sure way to find out is to get rid of them and then see if people die from having bad drugs on the market. Seems reasonable. I’m sure Big Pharma will be OK with having their drugs take even longer to get approved, aren’t you?

And we can probably cut the FBI by 30% or so. I mean, we used to do without DNA, we can do it again. Don’t touch the guys working on uncovering drugs though. Or serial killers. Or illegals. You can rip out the white-collar crime department, for sure.

Well, I think we’ve all seen the beneficial effects of downsizing at ur jobs. Good morale, overworked and overstressed colleagues, worse customer service, deteriorating quality - all elements to be celebrated, right?

I can’t wait.

Not really. The “bipartisan culture of corruption” remains in place no matter which Party wins an election.

Until working people organize to take on the elites, and develop enough sophistication to ignore the racial and cultural memes that the establishment uses to distract them, it shall remain so.

I hope they get everything they voted for – good and hard. {{ LOL }}

Until January?

Until 75% of the current incumbents in Congress are voted out of office – 90% of them are in “safe” seats that provide lifetime tenure if they so choose. Only about 40 of the 435 seats in Congress have any hope of swinging to the other side.

Actually “Big Pharma” pays large application fees to the FDA to submit a new drug application. In part to make it harder for smaller, less well funded companies to make an application, but mostly to insure that the FDA has a source of funding to hire adequate staff through the revolving “Corporate-to-Gov’t-and-back” door.

Yes, you will see a lot more of these conversations. Voluntary buyouts, 5 days a week to office, Government layoffs, Reduction in regulations, Reduction in government agencies, Changes to procurement.

No, that’s a map of LAND. It has nothing to do with how many people voted. It’s a common mistake from people who want to make a point without using common sense.

"I hope they get everything they voted for – good and hard. "

I need to remember that phrase, when talking to TFG’s supporters, lol. They are sticking with their manna from heaven outlook that starts in late January of 2025, at least so far anyways.

I told you a month ago that Trump / Elon is coming. You guys were busy upvoting each other. He now has 74 million votes.

My point is that most democrats including many on this board will support these initiatives once you digest and understand them. We don’t want to be spending $1 Trillion on interest payments.

Hopefully, you did NOT invest/risk your own money. Did you risk OPM (Other People’s Money)? No risk to YOU–but for THEM.
