General Dynamics NASSCO has secured a contract to build additional vessels for the US Navy. Each vessel costs about $780M
Given the capabilities provided include carrying oil and dry bulk cargos, it sounds like an OBO (Oil-Bulk-Ore)-type vessel. US Navy vessels are usually US-yard built. But, I’m sure if the vessel was built at a foreign commercial shipyard, it would be much, much less.
And if built in foreign country might be loaded with spy devices when delivered. Many famous stories of embassies built in foreign countries like Russia. Saving money is not always a goid idea.
