I hope there’s no ghoulishly scary Halloween surprise!
In other news, I really wish Apple had tried harder on the iPad Mini 7 update. It has the same 3 year old display (60 Hz, no Pro Motion, no OLED) though with perhaps a tweak to eliminate most of the “jelly scrolling” problem of the iPad Mini 6. The reviews have been mixed on that, with some saying it’s completely fixed, and others that it hasn’t been addressed at all.
And beginning next Monday, the pot stirring begins, with software updates, maybe hardware during the week…
That’s good news. I was getting worried that the rumored October “Event” had been canceled. Apple usually sends out the invites for those a full week before.
From the article:
Finally, and perhaps most notably, the Mac mini will also get a dramatic refresh this month. In addition to new configurations with the M4 and M4 Pro chip, the Mac mini is getting is biggest redesign in years.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is prepping a wholly redesigned Mac mini. The biggest change will be a significant size reduction. The new Mac mini will reportedly be “far smaller than its predecessor” and feature a form factor similar to the Apple TV. According to the report, the M4 Mac mini’s overall footprint will be smaller than the current Mac mini, but it could be slightly taller.
Heh, so small, where are all the needed ports!? As it is with my M2 Mac Mini I had to add a docking widget to be able to hook everything up, and even with that, still use AC adapters, chargers on my APC UPS to keep stuff charged, but if data has to be downloaded it has to have an active port… makes it all kinda messy, I just added a DVD drive so I can revisit old archived photos, etc… But it runs fairly cool, 95°F per my ‘Hot’ monitor up on the bar… Rarely gets warmer, no fans that I’ve ever heard… It will be interesting to see what comes out next…
Coming from Gurman, that is pretty much gospel. I agree on the shortage of ports.
