The coordinated raids led to multiple arrests and the discovery of weapons caches, including pistols and explosive devices, prepared for use “on command” by Hamas operatives. One of the most significant discoveries occurred in Vienna in September, when Austria’s security and intelligence agency (DSN) located a weapons stockpile hidden in the city.

Having watched Ukraine disarm (with the assurances of US protection) and seeing the result, yeah, I’d be a little reluctant to disarm too.
No comment here about whether Hamas should be in power, have any power, or should end up in the graveyard of fanatics in, uh, the graveyard, just pointing out that “disarming” can be fraught if you’re interested in self-preservation.
