German Gas Shortage - Blame Canada

Hey, we didn’t make the rules Eh!

If I understand the complaint we need only give in to Putin and allow him to sell lots of Nat Gas to short sighted Germany … or we can punish Putin and the Germans will have to burn the furniture to keep warm this winter? I’m guessing all those windmills and solar panels weren’t enough?

Germany’s Habeck urges Canada to help thwart Putin on gas

Brian Platt and Arne Delfs, Bloomberg News

Germany’s vice chancellor made a public plea to the Canadian government to release a turbine that’s caught up in sanctions against Russia and critical for gas flows to Europe.

Economy Minister Robert Habeck told Bloomberg that the turbine for the Nord Stream 1 pipeline needs to be returned before maintenance work begins on Monday. Releasing the component would remove an excuse for Russian President Vladimir Putin to keep the conduit closed.

“I’ll be the first one who will fight for a further strong EU sanction package, but strong sanctions means it must hurt and harm Russia and Putin more than it does our economy,” Habeck said in a phone interview late Wednesday. “Therefore, I ask for understanding that we have to take this turbine excuse away from Putin.”

“I’ll be the first one who will fight for a further strong EU sanction package, but strong sanctions means it must hurt and harm Russia and Putin more than it does our economy,” Habeck said in a phone interview late Wednesday.

The Eurpean politicians have begun to realize that the economic sanctions imposed to Russia have started to turn against their own countries.

Habeck is one of many German politicians who have no real qualification for the position they hold.

Why Germany is reviving dirty coal to counter Russian gas cut

Germany has struggled to fill its gas storage sites since Russia began throttling its supply. Among the possible solutions are an increased use of coal for power production, and industry incentives to reduce consumption.

Sadly so. Merkel loved talking about the ‚Energiewende‘ and she still enjoys respect internationally but the policies of her various governments over 16 years actually worked to torpedo it, especially where JCs‘ interests were at play.

The German states didn’t help, banning wind turbines in a radius less than a kilometer from any house, or additional powerlines from North to South.

Then there was her lonely decision to accelerate Germany’s nuclear exit following Fukushima.

All of this plus the war falling nicely into the lap of the new government.

Why Germany is reviving dirty coal to counter Russian gas cut

The new government is reluctantly playing the only (lousy and dirty) cards left over from its predecessors to avoid economic catastrophe next winter in case Russia doesn’t return gas deliveries to normal levels following current pipeline maintenance.

Very reluctantly even since both economic and foreign ministry are both run by green ministers.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky Sacks Kyiv’s Envoys to India, Germany, 3 Other Nations

Since we emptied our warehouses of weapons and have received many thousands of refugees and immigrants it would seem he has decided to dump it all on the Germans. We were just supposed to repair and return it.

I started watching the comedy series “Servant of the People” that he stars in last week … hilarious.

Something else was likely at play:

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, fired his ambassador to Germany, a week after the diplomat gave an interview in which he defended the legacy of a World War II nationalist leader who collaborated with the Nazis. …

But in an interview on the show Jung & Nai, which streamed on YouTube on June 29, Mr. Melnyk defended the memory of Stepan Bandera, the leader of the far-right Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists during World War II. The nationalist group, which espoused fascist ideology, collaborated with German forces when they occupied Ukraine and some of those forces assisted in the mass murders of Poles and Jews. …

Hyperbole!

Then there was her lonely decision to accelerate Germany’s nuclear exit following Fukushima.

I agree with the first sentence.

The second sentence is wrong. The German people hate nuclear power.

Jaak

Of course that was the only thing Zelensky could do. His ambassador to Germany is a nut case.

“Never”

It might depend on how cold it get sin Europe this winter. With luck, they have a mild winter and Putin assumes room temperature sometime soon.
