Remember how the US could not defend against hyper sonic weapons?
That does not mean we need hyper sonic defenses it seems.
President Vladimir Putin has boasted that Russia is the global leader in hypersonic missiles, capable of travelling at speeds of up to Mach 10 (12,250 kph) to evade enemy air defences. On Tuesday, Ukraine said it had managed to destroy six of the weapons in a single night, although Russia disputed this.
Good point! After all, the projectile that destroys the hypersonic missile isn’t chasing it from behind – it just needs to be at the right place where the hypersonic missile can smack into it at high speed.

Not even. The hypersonic missiles avoid that. The energy the hyper sonic uses to turn slightly means it is completely off course and falls short of hitting any targets. The missile’s fuel is spent.
You could also target it with a laser. Not many things are faster than the speed of light! Ha.
