Hyundai is Expanding US Production

Tesla mentions…

  • 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 at a Tesla Supercharger (Source: Hyundai)
  • Hyundai has upgraded its best-selling EV with more range (now up to 318 miles), a fresh new style, and a built-in NACS port, allowing you to recharge at Tesla Superchargers.
  • Tesla Model Y is already feeling the pressure of Xiaomi’s YU7

As long as they have no choice but to mention Tesla I’m happy!

Why don’t they mention Lucid or … what’s that other has-been?

The Captain

Likely because Tesla sales have plunged 13% compared to last year?

IMO China EV market space has reached saturation level. I know BYD has cut production in China factories. Other Chinese EV makers will follow. There is a overcapacity of EV production for the China market space.

China no longer can absorb new EV production.

The US is the logical new battle ground for sales.

As foreign EV makers build factories within the USA. Tesla EV sales will continue to fade.

And tariffs favor production in the U.S. Hyundai has the finances and technology and a sales marketing distribution service network to build on.

BYD seems a likely player in the U.S. but they start from ground zero. Will take some time to make a dent in the market.
