Although the reporter may just be moving to another echo chamber.

Here in the UK Twitter is really upsetting our socialist/communist government who are cracking down on speech that they don’t like.
There has even been talk of Elon Musk being summoned to the British Parliament to answer MP’s questions:
Elon Musk will be summoned by the British MPs to testify over X’s role in disseminating misinformation, in a parliamentary investigation into August riots.

A bunch in the US has been routinely threatening any speech it doesn’t like.
As some commented here, twenty years ago “1984 was not intended as a how to manual”
