I shall assume positive intent

Recently I was told that my posts are angry.

It’s interesting what bubbles up in a conversation on perils and costs in property casualty insurance, who knew!

This perplexed me because I did not feel anger, I did not express any mean or disparaging sentiments towards any persons, and, unless I explicitly expressed my feelings (which I did not), how could someone claim to know my feelings in this forum?

Anyway, in the spirit of community and mutual understanding, I humbly share my target mindset.

  • I shall assume positive intent from all individuals on this forum.
  • Because written words are a poor medium for communicating emotion, I shall not presume to know the emotional state of any individual on this forum unless their words are very explicit, such as “I feel happy.”
  • I would hope that other individuals extend the same courtesy to each other, to assume positive intent.

I shall add, that I am grateful for some great nuggets of information found here. I have benefited from many great posts on health care and health insurance, Treasury and TIPS markets, and retirement planning.

Those of you who make these great posts know who you are.

Thank you.

Best wishes for a Happy New Year.

You were not angry.

I do get angry.

Some stupid things are assumed as pushing opinions. I do take second seating for someone else’s ignorance. I’d rather not have such a friend pushing me around for their agenda. No I am not nice at all about it. Also this is the internet. The most ridiculous Ph.Ds in the world can assume power. Forget.

If this place is a popularity context put me last in line. I might care but forget it.

On the other hand expressing caring about other people is worthwhile.

As far as me getting angry? So what? I’ll get over it.

Don’t let that bother you Mostly. Some people use that phrase as a tool to diminish other peoples posts. They are just projecting onto you. When you realize that you can just let them go on their way.
