Should this board be changed?

This board discusses lot of topics outside of Berkshire. Nothing wrong with that. However, there are few motivated folks, who are able to report to fool and get certain posts deleted because those posts discusses non Berkshire stocks. Yet Jim, et al can discuss anything.

Either we stick to Berkshire or make it a social financial board.

Your No is hollow, look at the posts that you made now, medical devices QQQE, etc. Especially the discussion on QQQ vs QQQE how is it relevant to Berkshire?

This board is a waterhole that discusses whatever it likes. You just don’t have the clarity to accept that simple truth.

Jim has been the single largest contributor to my financial knowledge, aside from Mr. Buffett. As for my actual finances, I dare say that Jim has been an even bigger contributor than Mr. Buffett (even though more than 60% of my net worth is tied in Berkshire stock).

In my view, Mr. Buffett’s/Berkshire’s philosophy is to find intelligent ways to make money, whether it is through Japanese stocks, bonds, arbitrages (such as swapping stock for cocoa beans*), derivatives, publicly or privately held firms, etc. Jim discusses many of these. To me, his discussion falls squarely in the same philosophy.

I welcome any and all insights from Jim. They are invaluable.

So what? The regulars here are happy with it the way it is. The discussion is civil, informative, educational. If you’re not happy here, no one’s forcing you to stay. Maybe chill?

A waterhole is where the lions & other predators hang around to eat and get fat. So, actually I accept that truth.

Fact is, comprehensive discussions on Berkshire Hathaway itself are basically:

  1. Buy BRK and don’t sell until you need some money.
    or
  2. Buy BRK whenever the P/B drops to 1.3 and sell when it rises to 1.55

and
3) Bitch when Warren sits on big pile of cash without doing anything with it.

The simple truth is that most people on this board prefer it the way it is.
Remember that BRK is not “one company”, it is a combination of many different companies, to some degree like a relative concentrated “portfolio fund” of value oriented companies.
There are a lot of valuable and knowledgable contributers on this board who kindly share their knowledge and expertise in this value oriented “waterhole” with others, and I am greatly appreciative of that.
It is the reader’s option to read the postings on this board or not, but I suspect most readers here do NOT want the “waterhole” of value oriented investing to change.

Who are you to say that I should leave? Haters hate, and sorry to see you have morphed into one of them.

My original post was let us expand the scope of the board, so that no post is getting arbitrarily deleted. That’s not a hard message to understand…

I said no such thing, and you (should) know it. I said, “No one is forcing you to stay.” No one is forcing me. to stay, either.

I honestly don’t understand why you constantly go out of your way to try to alienate people for no good reason other than that, perhaps, you’re bored. Try give it a rest?

This sentence, “If you’re not happy here, no one’s forcing you to stay”, doesn’t translate into telling someone the SHOULD leave.

That wasn’t a hard sentence to understand.

My impression of your OP is that it was a response to your getting posts deleted by TMF, as opposed to some others on this board. If that is the root cause of your concern, review the rules for posting. I am rather new to this board and have not had any posts deleted, but am careful to give credit when quoting and to not quote too much.

No one is asking you to reply. Why are you getting offended with every suggestions? Why can’t you stay out of things? Seriously what is your agenda?

You guys converted a financial board into political asylum and when complained you wanted me to leave it, so I did, why you are shamelessly chasing me? stay out. Go kick some rocks.

That’s correct. But TMF uses this logic this is Berkshire board, and your post is not about Berkshire. Yet there are tons of posts that has nothing to do with Berkshire. So there are some haters who stifle conversation. The easiest solution is make it open that way no one can get any posts deleted.

I understand TMF rules sadly TMF doesn’t. If my post about Rusell Index reorg now adding growth names into value category is interesting… is out of topic, then what about all the QQQ vs QQQE discussion???

Where is consistency? Don’t call it a rule, call it “TMF Value”, so you can make it as you go along…

But no one agreed with your original inquiry. Asked and answered.

That isn’t hard to understand.

Wow. While I realize you also did not ask ME to reply, I will anyway, given these are public boards and that is my right. Suck in a deep breath and re-read the thread in full. IMO you owe everyone an apology.

I sincerely hope everything is OK.

Obviously I did not see your post. I would have found it interesting. There are many OT posts here without the OT designation in the title. I understand the frustration of seeing yours pulled and not others. TMF is not perfect nor are they always uniform in their approach to pulling posts, IMO. It is the system we have. But that doesn’t excuse you going off on others on the board. That’s on you.

The few times over the many years I have posted on TMF, my pulled posts came with an explanation. Did they not provide one?

In all my years of posting here, I have had only about a half a dozen posts pulled. In each case, I have received an e-mail explaining why.

My most recent one did surprise me, and I thought it inconsistent.
It was pulled on this board for being off-topic. My post was made in response to another one that asked a question, and I simply answered it. Yet the post to which I replied was not pulled. That is the way it goes sometimes. It is not something to get all worked up about.
