Is TWLO “over hyped”

Shopify doesn’t think so.

It sounded to me like Twilio was saying some bullish things about Flex in the call.

We have no idea how much revenue they are generating with it. They don’t break down any business segment so it’s unlikely we ever will know how much revenue Flex generates.

The product has been generally available for about 6 or 7 months when this last quarter ended. It won’t be until next Q1 when they will be able to tell us any sort of meaningful growth rates. Not sure what we expected but here’s Lawson.

Our approach is resonating with many types of customers even in these early days. As we expected, the first implementations of Flex are among digital-native companies who are looking to build and move quickly, and we continue to make progress with these great early adopters. We’re also early in numerous sales cycles with larger enterprises that have large existing footprints to augment or replace. This is a huge opportunity in a market that is ready for disruption, and Flex has shown tremendous potential as customers have told us that we’re on the right path.

That to me sounds great. When that revenue starts coming in from those large enterprises, I look forward to that.

Excellent find, Darth!

When that revenue starts coming in from those large enterprises, I look forward to that.

While I can understand those who follow TWLO very closely may be disappointed if their feeling was this product would deliver revenue more quickly, the Shopify case is very poignant in what Flex enables them to do. The good news is, Twilio is growing organically around 56% without Flex!

The addition of TAM/CAP in the call center is quite encouraging.

Thanks again for posting that.
