Israel-Iran War -- Peace Deal Signed?

From what I’ve seen, the agreement doesn’t jibe with Netanyahu’s military ambitions. I hope I’m wrong, but I give it less than a week before Netanyahu blows it up with another attack on Lebanon.

From the article:

The main headline of Sunday’s Yediot Aharonot, a popular Hebrew daily, summed up in two words the prevailing sentiment in Israel over President Trump’s emerging cease-fire agreement with Iran: “Bad Deal.”

Bad deal for the US and Israel but a great deal for Iran. Iran put on a master class of negotiation. They gave up literally nothing while making the US grovel. I never thought in my lifetime I’d see the USA humiliated by a third rate power like this.

Wouldn’t be surprised if a point of negotiation is for Iran to stop these videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgHn7PI55J4

I doubt Trump wants a deal.

I think he wants China to be paying fees to get petro chemicals through the Strait.

Meanwhile, the regime with no deal has to sit on its hands.

Israel can go after Hezbollah, SA and UAE can go after the Houthis, and the US can wait the regime out.

Trump is jive enough to demand money from the regime. Besides the regime has made it clear it does not want a deal. No deal. Just fees on bulk. Sorry China.

“We really need to bill them. You know if I was a mean man, some think I am, I’d bill them”, Donald J. Trump October 2026.

I seriously doubt that. We haven’t so far, even under Biden and Obama.

If this is such a good deal for the US, why don’t we know what’s in it?

I’m officially retiring TFG and will use JTT going forward.

Like the secret peace negotiations with Vietnam…nothing is going on.

Apparently, there is quite a sweetener for Iran. The Gulf States have agreed to provide $300 billion in reparations.

That sounds about as idiotic as it gets!

Iran won the war, so they get to keep their nuclear program and receive reparations.

Iran also says they now intend to charge fees for ships transiting the Strait.

As the Trump administration claims victory for the diplomatic deal, Democrats in Congress are scrambling for an appropriate response. Some are flatly criticizing the terms as “surrender,” others are welcoming the agreement as a necessary step, and many are trying to navigate a more delicate political path: how to register dissatisfaction with the president without appearing to prefer continued war over compromise.

In a thread on X, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) offered the most comprehensive version of this reasoning, calling the deal “essentially surrender” while acknowledging that Americans “should be glad about it.”

The deal negotiated by Trump is on “Iran’s terms,” according to Murphy. “They made one single concession - opening the Strait. And it’s not even a concession because the Strait was open before the war. Trump has humiliated America. He accomplished none of his goals. He was forced to surrender on Iran’s terms.”

Sounds about right.

Captain,

I have been busy so pardon my reading things only now. Turns out the small print says the money is only due if there is a deal. Do not worry. There won’t be a deal.

This stuff literally happens in property deals all day long.

City zoning: You need plans for parking, do you have them?
Landlord/Contruction company: Yes we had these plans for a $100 million parking garage drawn up.
City zoning: Perfect, and on the side, thanks for the pay off.

Ever wondered how a small country like Ukraine could hold off a giant like Russia, humiliate them on the world stage, and have the rest of the planet start to question if the one-time superpower is really as strong as we thought?

Congratulations. That’s what the rest of the world is now thinking about us.

We had some long threads in the very early days of war discussing and explaining why the USA was guaranteed to lose this war. The only question was how big Iran’s victory was going to be.

Turns out Iran’s victory was pretty decisive. You seem to be invested in the idea that bombing Iran will blunt their nuclear program.

The reality is exactly the opposite. The foolish US decisions that lead to Iran’s victory has greatly strengthened Iran’s nuclear position.

If we want to slow or dismantle Iran’s nuclear ambitions at a minimum the US needs to stop making unforced errors.

Sure. Dream on. The worst deal maker ever just made the worst deal. Ever.

The Trump-Iran Deal Allows Tehran to Immediately Sell Oil

The agreement also waives banking and transport sanctions to facilitate transactions, an early financial benefit

United Against Nuclear Iran, a nonprofit, said an Iranian supertanker carrying crude oil, Diona, had left Chabahar port, crossed the U.S. blockade and was sailing out of the Gulf of Oman on Tuesday with its location tracker active. It was the first such transit since the start of the U.S. blockade in April. Shortly afterward, a second supertanker, Hero II, also crossed the blockade, according to the nonprofit and ship-tracking data from MarineTraffic.

Hop on board; your team is ready for November. Truth need not apply.

If our team can not tell the truth even when we win we will do nothing. Liars are lazy.

You have the T-shirt. Makes no sense, but you wear it backwards.

An agreement yes. A deal no. Neither side wants the deal.

Politics is the art of persuasion. Keeping it honest is lost on most people. That makes many people useful pawns.

Bill Clinton allowed Pakistan to have nuclear weapons on his watch. Terrible mistake. Really stupid. Dumb risk with our lives. Because of his endless dishonesty he got elected but was ineffective.

Trump is more dishonest. He is more destructive. We need him out. That does not mean we need to continue to be ineffective in Clinton’s mode.

Assume you and I are voting for the same exact people. Stop assuming you need to swallow our party’s lies to get it done.

Until sanctions are lifted after the final deal, Iran will be able to export under waivers. That immediately puts money in their pocket.

If we’re being honest, the US put itself in the position of having to agree to the worst deal ever. I’m glad we accepted defeat. The alternative would have been fugly. And…we’re not out of the woods yet.
