Maersk forecast gloomy

Container shipping giant AP Maersk announced Q2 2023 results and their outlook for the rest of the year is gloomy.

  • Q2 2023 volume dropped by 6%, and rates got halved - that’s ugly
  • Adjusted the annual drop to 4% from 2.5%

    “We had expected customers to draw down inventories around the middle of the year, but so far we see no signs of that happening. It may happen at the beginning of next year,” Clerc said at a media briefing.

Further out in 2025-2027 is also a huge orderbook of cleaner fueled, but massive container vessels delivering.
