I never had Juneteenth off, but the place I worked form 2000-2006 was minority owned. We always had MLK Day off.

They dropped Veterans Day off their list of holidays, I believe starting in 2023. It was on a Saturday so it was closed anyway and they picked up Juneteenth. This year Vets Day is not listed as a holiday even though it’s on a Monday.
It has been a Federal holiday since 2021.

We need more holidays, please!!!

I used to think everyday was a holiday once I retired but now I find myself building my day around when rush hour happens and looking for the weekends.

After I retired, I always wished I was employed on Labor Day, since it was usually a paid day off when I was working.
But I agree, once you’re retired, every day is a holiday.

I made the mistake of traveling to see a friend and getting started at 7:30am on a Tuesday instead of my usual 10:00. I’d forgotten how the other 90% lives. Sheesh, I won’t make that mistake again.
I plan my day on avoiding rush hour traffic, lol. There is so much road reconstruction going on around here, and the tourists are still coming, so it can be a real PITA getting around town. But after 7pm, it’s like night and day difference. Sometimes I have to go during the 9am-7pm stretch, and it’s an added half hour round trip to Home Depot or some of the other big box stores. So in the big picture, not the end of the world, but it is still exasperating to crawl or be at a standstill in traffic.
I have another obstruction when I want to head across the state on a Saturday: football games at U of M. I have an alternate route that isn’t quite as bad, but it is still a crawl on I-94 until clear of Ann Arbor. Simply forget about the US23/M14 complex around the north side of Ann Arbor.

I drove in your big city traffic in May, leaving Comerica Park. Took us an hour to go 15 miles. Took 5 hours to get back home to TC. Every time I get whiny about all of the road reconstruction going on here, I think back to the big city driving I’ve done and quickly realize I have nuthin to complain about. I do like going to the Big City, so traffic woes are just part of the price of admission, lol.
Well, if we have regime change when Whitmer term limits out, the new (L&Ses) will undoubtedly say “we have done road maintenance long enough. we are going to cut the road budget in half so we can give the “JCs” another tax cut”. With luck, they will be done with I-94 by the time that happens, so I will have good driving for several years, before the neglect catches up with the road again.
