There is something to these lock ups and being able to get better pricing.
MongoDB was trading as high as 46 last March and went down as low as 32 in last April when there was a lockup, bought my shares around 35 doing that time and have a slim chance to get my first Spiffy Pop tomorrow if the after hours movement is any indicator of tomorrow’s spoils!
Zscaler also had a nice run in late August 2018 going as high as 48, while September’s lock up event brought them as low as 33. Was able to get my shares at 37.
Now Elastic which recently have been as high as 100 is now 82 on Wednesdays close. If MongoDB and Zscaler action is an indicator Elastic may be at attractive prices. Will be patient like I have been with MDB and ZS. Excited to see what April brings!! Happy Investing!!

I believe you are right, Elastic may be at attractive prices so I have started to nibble this week. Of course, there are two more trading weeks left in the quarter so insider activity may continue to depress the share price heading into April. Regarding the month of April, there is a trading blackout period after each quarter so I wouldn’t expect the secondary/April lockup expiration to have much of an effect on the share price until three days after the next earnings release (which should be the end of May). After that, I would expect the quarter’s results could have more of an effect on the share price than insider activity… Keep in mind that insiders already have an ability to trade 25% of their shares and for many that should be more than sufficient to satisfy their itch for new toys. If their CEO is any good then he will be constantly reminding them that their best days are ahead and that they shouldn’t sell too many shares right now.
Take care,
