Musk's DOGE granted access to US Medicare and Medicaid systems

Wow! Something I support.

I agree that there is a lot of fraud going on with the Medicare system. And I start with the $50 Billion worth of fraud committed by Medicare Advantage insurers that the Inspector General identified.

{{ Insurers added diabetic cataract diagnoses to 148 patients treated by Dr. Howard Chen, an ophthalmologist in Goodyear, Ariz. He said he saw at most one or two such cases a year.

He said he charges insurers $40 per patient to cover his costs for providing them with medical charts.

“If they are just making stuff up, then why do they even need or want my charts?” said Chen.

In all, Medicare paid insurers about $50 billion for diagnoses added just by insurers in the three years ending in 2021, the Journal’s analysis showed. }}

American business thrives on skim, scam and fraud. Both Corporate DEMs and Republicans support it, and are collecting millions of dollars in campaign contributions from the perpetrators.

If you think this admin is going after insurers for fraud I have a bridge to sell you.

The fact they focus on this small potato and not the unauditable defense department tells you all you need to know.

You mean the same Inspector General that was terminated by the administration?

Elon brining startup style efficiency to Federal Government.
He is weeding out the corruption, waste, fraud and abuse.
It is a shock to the system.

It is likely his supporters will “get the shock” when they are told they are NOT eligible for benefits.

If DOGE can improve the air traffic control system, more power to them. I’m all for it.

I suspect though that it will require investments in new equipment, better training for personnel, and a large increase in staffing.

DOGE = Bigger government. That’s what happens when you want to improve government services.

I guess we could outsource air traffic control. Let Boeing run it…

And you think that is a positive??. The bankruptcy rates for startups is about 90% according to Google AI.

I am getting the impression you have no idea what you are talking about.

The problem with businessmen running government is they are inclined to give the least amount of services for the greatest amount of profits. So, while they cut services we should ask who profits.

Well we all know what a fan and frequent user of bankruptcy TI is.

At this rate you could sell him a gross of such bridges.

That’s the claim.

Can you point us to one case of that actually happening?

Rick Scott, the person convicted of the largest amount of Medicaid fraud in history is a sitting senator right now! And these people think that Musk cares are all about rooting out fraud? It is so infuriating how stupid people can be.

Of course he can’t. And nothing Elon has blocked has been proven to be a fraudulent payment or wasteful or abuse. None of it. He is just unilaterally shutting valves off because he wants to. A private citizen. With no oversight. Not elected. Not vetted. Not appointed by Congress. And agree with priestinacloset, it is so infuriating how stupid people can be. Elon just says “I think this was waste” and his minions go “hooray!”

USA society has deep deep gnarly roots in hysterical religious fervor, where imbecility and delusion are mistaken for faith power and any form of restraint on “inspired leaders” is seen as feminist sabotage of divine guidance. As Historic Christianity fades Hysterical (highly profitable) Xtianity moves in and metastasizes.

Remember this?:

And what happened next? Well, Jerry Jr somehow knew that the Fixer experts would be found around Donald T, and so he contacted DT’s consigliare Michael Cohen and cut a deal — you give me guidance in “making this go away” and I give your boss my Mega Powerful level Endorsement as God’s Instrument to Save America.

So forget about the old power structures, we are now in a Brave New World.

Ahh, Elon is further exploring cheap and dirty scapegoating of governmental structures to gain political points….

I’d like to see the IRS given directives with budget to buy modern computers and leave paper processing behind, provide citizens with free but correctable appealable tax processing, and go after plutocratic tax rackets and frauds instead of merely making life a misery for most of the electorate.

Oh come on. Even if Musk wanted to go after Medicare Advantage fraud, the bipartisan culture of corruption in Washington that’s taking big campaign contributions from the insurers would never allow it.

Stupid is being generous. Stupidity has little to do with it, it’s a moral deficit.

People thought bankrupting casinos was disqualifying. How about morally bankrupting almost half the country?

You are a sickening person and I don’t care if that comment gets me banned. But it needs to be said. These people are not auditors. They have zero experience in that. People with that experience have chimed in on these boards to explain exactly why what Musk is doing is bad. But you seem to be laser focused on retribution. On anger. A private citizen is unilaterly determining what should and should not be paid. With ZERO EVIDENCE OF FRAUD OR WASTE. Just simply declaring “this I don’t like!” and you’re giddy and happy with it. You want Rome to burn. And I have zero respect or tolerance for people like this.

And that is the whole point. If they wanted to eliminate fraud and abuse they would have auditors, not software experts. They certainly would not have started by firing all those inspector generals. And one of the first groups they targeted as fraudulent, apparently, was Lutheran Services, who run nursing homes and homeless shelters, among other things. I don’t know what their actual goals are, but nothing they are doing has anything to do with making government more efficient.
