There used to be SEATO, southeast asia treaty organization to deal with the Communist threat there. What happened to that?
With China building aircraft carriers, you can understand Australias recent interest in nuclear submarines. Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, etc must be aware and concerned. Plus many others in the area must also be potential members.
Nato is the strongest surviving alliance. Is a reasonable model for the future. But do members have a major interest in Southeast Asia?
Maybe they should revamp a similar organization for that area.
