Thanks for posting this Mozzie505,

It led me to a better understanding of how these software companies developed their unique solutions

The below blog helped me to understand the future of corporate networks and how Cloudflare (NET) assists in the progression to the cloud from 1st Generation Traditional networks where businesses used servers accessed through land lines.

Companies then began shifting to the cloud using Gen 2 wireless internet access resulting in a combination of Gen 1 and gen 2 technologies.

Enter Gen 3 Secure access service edge, or SASE ‘a cloud-based IT model that bundles software-defined networking with network security functions and delivers them from a single service provider.’
Gartner global research coined the term “SASE” in 2019.

Cloudflare, and specifically Cloudflare One offers businesses their Zero Trust network-as-a-service platform to bridge this gap more efficiently and securely.

A bridge to Zero Trust

“Today, we’re excited to announce another piece of the puzzle to help organizations on their journey from traditional network architecture to Zero Trust:
the ability to route traffic from user devices with our lightweight roaming agent (WARP) installed to any network connected with our Magic IP-layer tunnels (Anycast GRE, IPsec, or CNI). From there, users can upgrade to Zero Trust over time, providing an easy path from traditional castle and moat to next-generation architecture.”

Cloudflare Announces API Gateway; Increases Security for Billions of Devices and Systems with Robust Machine Learning Engine
03/16/2022
Now organizations can secure, manage, and monitor all of their APIs in one easy-to-use dashboard

“APIs were never built with security in mind. Yet, today APIs are involved in nearly every app a consumer or employee touches, often carrying our sensitive personal data,”

said Matthew Prince, CEO and co-founder of Cloudflare.

Every day Cloudflare’s network blocks about 86 billion cyber threats for our customers. We’re confident that no other API tool sees the breadth or volume of threats that we do. We’ve built next generation AI and Machine Learning engines that take API management to a new level, automatically detecting new APIs and preventing threats. As with other Cloudflare products, API Gateway will do all of this at a fraction of the cost and without the latency introduced by legacy solutions.”

Identify and stop API abuse…
Automatically detect unmanaged APIs…
Create and manage APIs directly…
Offload authentication and authorization…
Seamlessly route, log, and measure API requests…
