1, Returned to the US about 2 days before the New Year
2. Rain storms and/or Atmospheric rivers hit Northern CA

4. Work declares the continuing storms a hazard, and tells employees to work from home for the time being.
5. Family health concerns might require more emergency (international) travel
All part of the first week of 2023
What about the economy? Is inflation under control?
While trying to catch up on day-to-day stuff, decided it was time to update my laptop. Sure, maybe some “want” vs “need” issues there - old laptop still functional, but about 6 years old, The MS Edge browser on new device had some issues with the Motley Fool boards, but after about 20 min of tinkering - did get to the boards.
Back to the subject line- Am I ready for 2023? I think 2023 will be an interesting year, I guess I should be ready for the unexpected.
The economy is doing extremely well. Taxes are going up for corporations this year to 28%. Inflation is now more leveled off and minor. Has been more at this lower level for five months around 2.5% annualized.
Valuations in the bond market and equities markets are still too high. Woe to the boomers. The Millennials will be eating us alive. Well not me.
The new laptop was purchased via Best Buy online. So far, a total of 6 emails from Best Buy (including an email confirming that I have Geek Squad service for 1 year).
Yup, certainly feel valued through the purchase process
I bought a gaming tower from Costco. Got a 3070 card. The price was lowest at Costco before they took $300 off. I believe Costco’s warrantee is two years.
The light in the power button is not working, the LED. No biggy but I am not sending it back to Lenovo for a few weeks to get a new LED in there.
The four fans are cool to watch all lit up in different colors. Three sides are a grid to let air flow. I have the SATA HDD 1 TB mostly full from older projects. The game development will happen on the SSD 1 TB.
I went into BBY to figure out how to transfer my data from the old machine to the new machine. I realized the store manager and the Geek Squad guy wanted to rip me off. I went home and powered up my Levono and was offered their service to migrate my data. Worked well but I decided to sign up for Microsoft 365. I need Excel, Word and I need offsite back up.
