Just as I suspected, apparently they are.
Humans need special solar glasses to safely view April 8′s total solar eclipse. But dogs — smart enough to spend the eclipse sleeping and not staring at the sun —don’t need to be protected that day, according to medical experts.
Evolution is mighty and “remembers” events including total eclipses over millions of years. Once humans invented language and used it to tell stories and speculate on all manner of things, curiosity took on far greater beneficial power, upsetting our ancient evolved inhibitions.

We used to refer to our furbaby as CatDog. He would tolerate our loving him until he had enough, and would stalk away just like a cat. He had us so well trained.
