OT Bluebonnet update

The previous topic did not allow me to reply?

I drove ESE from my town, down a winding FR112.

I stopped and with windows down just inhaled the fragrance.

There were more than Bluebonnets.

Much of the roadside looks like this.
See the wildflowers next to the road?
No wildflowers across the fence? Broadleaf herbicide reserve the resources for grasses, which are harvested by cattle.
Think about that when you’re buying “grass fed”?

Two hundred years ago, 1830’s, when European settlers arrived, the landscape looked like this.

Those settlers cleared the land so that it was open with 20m tall trees dotted here and there. It’s rare to have a tree taller than 20m. Occasionally there’s a specimen that gets 30m, down along a creek.

:honeybee::blossom:
ralph the bluebonnets got maybe 10 more days, then they’ll “dull” and set seed.
