What an important day to observe! My inlaws were part of that resistance, in the Resistance in France working as spies and in anti-German activities, and then in the concentration camps. My husband was born while they were in the Resistance, and smuggled to an aunt in hiding after his parents were arrested by the Gestapo. His parents survived, and saved many others in the camps as well. And the family was reunited. They moved to the U.S. when my husband was 8. As my FIL used to put it—“we were ordinary people in extraordinary times.”
