PET-CT scans are highly indicative, but low specificity. This is an interesting wrinkle that would be quite expensive to carriers, patients - and therapists!

I hope the radiology community gets this straightened out - and soon.

Well, I suspect the radiology community has been increasingly aware for a while….even the presentation iteslf has this case report in its reference list…

….not that you’d expect these health and science writers to look beyond what can be gussied up into another “Beware….here be side effects” tale of danger.

The Independant’s headline is, as usual, misleading in its use of the term “side effect” rather than a phenomenon that might be expected, given the way these drugs work to increase glucose uptake. I’m willing to bet this wouldn’t be the first time that patient medication (any medication) has been shown to confound the expected results of a test.
