A friend recently went to the art museum to see a Roaring 20s exhibition. There were cars from the period parked throughout the show. This one blew me away. I think it is the art deco-i-est car I’ve ever seen. It looks like something in an old Dick Tracy comic book. I love the way this Delahaye roadster. looks like it is moving while it is parked.
Which art museum had this exhibit?

Isn’t that the new electric Jaguar? Or at least the concept car for the new electric Jaguar?

This art deco car was influenced by Futurism, the artistic movement that drew excitement from the early 20th century advances in technology, including airplanes and cars.
My favorite example is in MOMA: Umberto Boccioni, Unique Forms of Continuity in Space (1913). You can clearly see how the streamlines influenced the car designer. Like the art deco Delahaye roadster the Boccioni sculpture looks like it is moving forward even though it’s stationary.
The airplanes of the era had similar streamlined covers on their landing gear which were functional for reducing drag.

If everything under the hood is battery, they could call in The Transcontinental.
