OT: Tick-borne diseases spreading

A new one is alpha-gal syndrome, an allergic reaction to mammal meats like pork, beef and lamb, which growing evidence shows can be triggered by a Lone Star tick bite.

I can’t read the article so I don’t know what they mean by new. It’s been around for a number of years here and I know several people who have been infected. I don’t enter the woods around here without soaking my clothes with permethrin and spraying my skin with DEET.
