OT: Vegas Trip, consumers seems to be doing okay

Just back from a 4 day trip to Vegas. It is hot like hell. If you are not worried about Climate change, you should. Vegas is busy, Cessions are generally full, people are spending money! Personally a good break for me, watched few shows, did some shopping, and made little money, of course we spend all of it in dining and shopping

Median household income in the US is reported at $74580/yr. This is usually the dividing line between the working poor at the bottom and the good jobs, mostly professionals in the upper tier.

We know its the bottom portion that is cutting back due to inflation with costs rising faster than their income. The upper tier continues to spend. They drive the economy. No surprise that those vacationing in Las Vegas tend to be upper tier.

Of course as the lower income group cuts backs, spends less, and buys less, the economy serving that portion also slows. Layoffs are in the future and that may even affect bonuses and income of the upper tier.

Lots of indication the economy is slowing. But so far not too painful.
