OT: What's The Captain up to?

I’m redeveloping The Captain ARK website to be my new face on the WWW. The Software Times code is so old that despite having been through various updates bringing it up to current standards is near impossible. Instead I’ll port some of the interesting bits to The Captain ARK.

Software Times was designed as a monolith. The Captain ARK is more like a smartphone, a home page and a bunch of ‘apps’ all totally independent. Take a look!

Packards were the king of the road back in the day. I’m sure Steve being from Detroit would remember the huge Packard Motor Company buildings that are currently in disrepair.

Here’s my former Packard which I sold a few years ago to this man who later sold it to the fifth owner.

DW and I loved to take the kids out for a ride on weekends out to restaurants and ice cream when drivers were not so aggressive. I found that I could no longer enjoy driving my Packard any longer so I sold it after 25 years of ownership. I’d like to get another vintage automobile again, but one that is more modern - maybe a 1960’s-1980’s model.

I’m happy to hear that you squashed that bug in your code

My dad was rather disappointed when the 1954 Packard’s upholstery started to frazzle. Back at the dealer’s they told him it was just the cover for the beautiful leather upholstery which lasted the life of the car.

It wasn’t a bug in my code, it was a missing page which should have resulted in a 404 error but in the latest server update at my web host something went amiss. In the old days it was something I could fix myself but with so much hacking and the ensuing ‘security’ to prevent it I’ll have to take it up with the Help Desk. Today being July 4 I’m giving them the day off. I’ll do it tomorrow.

Try https://captainccs.com/ark/missing.txt which gives the 404 but

https://captainccs.com/ark/missing.php gives the 500

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
