Wait until they see the cost and schedule estimates, then the people will be less supportive. New nuclear costs just increased by 30% in just 3 years in France.
Inflation makes the cost of everything go up. Blame needs to go to the fiscal policies of the last 15 years, or more. More specifically, the last 5 years has put way too many dollars out there, chasing a limited supply of goods.

Monthly Federal funds effective rate in the United States from July 1954 to May 2024 shows that we have had high interest rates before. In the year 2016 the inflation rate started to rise. But the interest rate went to zero in 2020 because of the pandemic. After the pandemic in 2022, the interest rate shot up and the Fed tried to stop it. It took them until 2024 to get it under control. The inflation is now dropping.

No. New nuclear happens to be very expensive for electrical power generation. Renewables and natural gs are cheaper.
