Topics banned on METAR:
Personal attacks.
Religious proselytizing.
Partisan politics, which includes mention of politicians, political parties or philosophies (e.g. socialist). Also, political measures being debated but which have not yet been signed into law since these tend to be highly contentious but usually are not signed into law after all.
Posts which violate copyright rules by copying a large part of a copyrighted article. Bare links aren’t helpful so we encourage a few snips (maybe 3 paragraphs maximum) to be copied into a post with attribution to the author. If a source of information isn’t copyrighted (such as a Federal Reserve report), make a note of this and copy as much as you want. Make sure that you clearly distinguish between what the original author said and your comments on the copied part of the post. I use a combination of Typewriter Text and bold face, which is added by < tt> < b> and removed by < /tt> < /b> (leave out spaces) with a note [end quote].
All banned posts will be removed from METAR (FA’d or Fool Alert).
To avoid rampant removal of posts, I am the person tasked with making Fool Alerts. If you see a post you think violates METAR rules, forward it to me. If I agree, I will have the post removed.

Based on those 4 criteria, I see no reason why the discussions of the economic impacts of Friday’s SCOTUS ruling have been FA’d. None of the posts that I saw violated any of METaR’s rules you laid out.

Absolutely! If you want to discuss the full range of macroeconomic topics, you need to post elsewhere.
Any ideas?

I don’t think I saw any of those posts, or if If I did I skipped over them. But I can pretty much always tell when a post will get FA’d. The administration might be not perfectly applied or defined, but it is pretty clear what is allowed or not. I don’t understand why so many people can’t grasp it. One thing that would help with consistency is just let Wendy do it. If randos are FA’ing posts then it up to a rando TMF staffer to make the decision who may or may not understand the board rules. So just Wendy handle it.
The other thing I don’t understand is the amount of indignation that getting a post FA’s caused. It was just a post. We’re crawling up on three quarters of million on this board. Let’s face it, most of them aren’t that memorable. If you had some great insight, just rephrase your post without the offending content. Undoubtedly would take less time than complaining about it.
And just as an observation, I can think of two posters, both long time TMF’ers, who liked to push the limits of the FA rules. Not just on this board, on other boards too. They were always able to find some technical reason why their posts shouldn’t have been pulled and would scream bloody murder. TMF fixed the problem by lifetime bans.

I didn’t see the posts. TMF has a board monitor who can and does remove posts. Sometimes mine if they have too much copied text.
Wendy
Wendy, I am very glad that you didn’t FA these posts. Evidently our TMF overlords have topics that must not be mentioned.

Look to the right as you read this post.
This is a Politics Free Board
Politically charged posts are not permitted on the Metar Board. If you make a political post, and it is alerted, the post will be removed. Thanks!
Who cranked the irony meter up to 11?
If you have to ask, odds are it’s politically laced with the latest sky-is-falling0-du-jour, from a purely partisan angle.
And - not Macro Economics.
