The Ukraine needs all the help it can get. The US & NATO have been very adamant, “We’ll give you enough weapons to defend yourself, but not enough to win the war.”

Arms supply came up in a discussion on TV last evening. At some point, western inventories of Soviet block weapons, that the Ukrainians know how to use, will be exhausted. Saw a clip today of Zelinsky asking for specific items, including 152mm ammunition, which is Russian, as well as asking for 155mm guns. The US has used 155mm guns for ages. My dad was in a 155 howitzer battery during WWII. It may be a job getting NATO surplus 155 guns to the front before the supply of 152mm ammo runs out.
The winds are changing on that. The US is now sending helicopters and armored troop vehicles. The attitude has turned decidedly to we believe the Ukrainians will win this war.
Thank you for recommending this post to our Best of feature.

Russia is now reporting the ship sank in a storm while under tow. I’m not sure how face-saving it is to argue that the ship was lost due to the incompetence of the crew rather than to enemy action.

With the ship in the deep six, it will be a lot harder for someone to look her over and determine if there is indeed a missile sized hole in the side where the fire started.
