In the OP poll, about 5% of the responses changed their answer from human-caused to equally-caused. There was no change in naturally-caused.

70% say climate change is happening, and 85% of those say humans are a significant cause. About 60% say climate change is happening and humans are a significant cause.

I understand that some are opposed to carbon capture, in part because they think it detracts from mitigation efforts. However, there is a reason the IPCC includes massive amounts of CCS in its scenarios that limit warming to 1.5 or 2Ā°C ā€“ it is the only way to get from here to there.

For example, in the 10 years between 2009 and 2019 the percent of global energy consumption from fossil fuels only went from 86% to 83%. Thatā€™s a decrease of 0.3% a year. Over the same period global fossil fuel use increased by over 17%.

And I am sure you know what happened to greenhouse gas forcing over that decadeā€¦

With alternatives coming in I have seen at least one report that fossil fuel use globally will recede starting in 2025. A slow and steady shift is coming.
