Sharing Wi-Fi Scanner Setup

It is time to replace our long unsuported ScanSnap xi500 scanners. After a quick try on an Epson sheet scanner, that will be return and we will get a ScanSnap ix2500.

Current idea put the ScanSnap2500 in my wife’s office with both of us scanning to a Google Drive. I know nothing about Google Drive. There is another option of DropBox. That would be the free DropBox (aka Basic DropBox Plan). In either case, we would be scanning to the Cloud and the individually retrieve and store our scans on our respective Macs.

Any things to watch out for? Gotchas?

Have you ever used VueScan? https://www.hamrick.com He/they have been my favorite scanner software for years n years, to where I ignore the canon/epson/brother software and just use Vuescan… He’s been great at adding scanners to his long list, to where I feel a bit bad in not paying for all his updates over the years, I should just drop him a payment..

I had, over the years, canon, other, outdated hardware as their connectors no longer connect up.. Electronic waste, but just too lazy to do it.. Currently a brother all in one, mono laser just keeps on going… Been so long, I didn’t realize how pricey they’d gotten, even the brother versions…

Good luck!

It is not clear to me that VueScan would even work for me. We use sheet scanners - they scan 30 to 60 sheets per minute including color, OCR, skew correction. My sense from the website is VueScan is for flat bed scanners.

If the software has a list of scanners supported, would you check for ScanSnap? The actual scanners are made by Fujitsu who I think is owned by Ricoh

There was a link, for supported scanners, just putting in ‘scansnap’ brought up a long list of supported models… Here’e the ix500 sheet…

In the past times, I used it to even use an old Minolta slide scanner I’d picked up at the local flea market, and while it worked, it was pretty slow, I had over 300 slides to digitize, so bought a wolverine unit, a little learning curve, but it did great…All I do today is occasional single page scans or just take a pic, tuck it away…

Anyway, as I noted earlier, he/they have been at this for a long time, have responded to messages nearly right away… Have fun!
