Shipping broker report 11/24/23

The folks at Advanced Shipping & Trading released their report for this week
After last week’s busy Sale & Purchase activity, what’s in store this week? Well, a less active week.

  • With vessels across the various categories, 14 bulker sales this week.
  • Genco (GNK) shows up as both buyer and seller. With one Cape in, one Cape out, this is basically a fleet rejuvenation move.
  • Three of the recent Star Bulk Carriers (SBLK) transactions show up in the report.
  • 6 tanker transactions, Aframax and smaller
  • Does an LR2 have a price premium because it can flip between trading clean and trading dirty? Last week Torm (TRMD) paid around $50M per LR2 (vessels built between 2010 - 2013) for an Aframax sized vessel
  • 32 - 36 newbuild orders of different variety. Could potentially be 6 option vessels more (the Stolt Nielsen transaction has an option 6)
  • ONE playing catch-up with European liner companies who ordered cleaner fuel vessels a few months back

On a separate note, Panamax rates bounced this week to 11-month highs
