I have not reported on one of these in a few weeks. I did skim a report that had some transactional data, but there did not seem to be any major news. Well, other than more bulkers being sold than tankers or containerships. Today’s report is from Affinity, and focuses on tanker routes. Two of the three VLCC routes still above $100K daily, and the Suezmax and Aframax category routes not too shabby either.
Given the vessels are generally smaller, clean routes lower, but generally still quite profitable. I saw an article on Dangote (Nigeria) refinery announcing expansion plans to double capacity. This will result in some shuffling of refinery product e.g. diesel, on some routes. But, this is a few years down the road.
