Shipping & World Economy Will Continue to Suffer as Long as the Gaza War Continues

Hamas is not a threat anymore. And he wants to open a new war with Lebanon. Net is just keeping the wars going to save his own skin. He is a liar just like DT.

Of course it is. It is a threat that is currently checked - as long as the IDF is actively engaged in combat in Gaza, there’s not much that Hamas can do to threaten Israel proper.

But long term, Hamas is one of the most dangerous threats to Israel. If it survives the current conflict, Hamas will have notched the most successful attack on Israel in history for the Palestinians - one that took the issue of Palestinian statehood from a dead letter to the top of the agenda again. They will never lack for resources (especially from Iran) or recruits. If the conflict leads to the creation of a Palestinian state, then Hamas will be the Founding Fathers of that state.

Given that Hamas is a fundamentalist Islamic terrorist organization that believes that the entire Mandate area is holy land and should not have any Jews in it, that’s an existential threat to Israel.

Hamas was never a threat to Israel proper. You should know better than to make such foolish statements.

Of course it is. They killed a thousand people and forced Israel to all-but-evacuate a vast swath of their territory. If Hamas was ever successful at forcing the establishment of a Palestinian state - with a formal military and access to all the benefits of an independent country - the damage they could inflict would be even greater.

And Japan wasn’t a threat to the US when it attacked Pearl Harbor. They just wanted some islands far out in the Pacific somewhere.

I’m very curious about this phrasing.

What is “Israel proper”? As opposed to Israel improper, which Hamas was (in your mind, at least) a threat to? Are the land and people that the Hamas Palestinians desecrated and massacred last October not somehow “Israel proper”?

The Islamic world needs to embrace freedom of religion. This is not a matter of one war. This is a matter of endless wars. Most of the deaths are Muslim. The Muslims want us to pretend that is an injustice.

Leap,

You are repeating yourself. Repetition even of wisdom is noise.

Hamas killing 1000 people does not mean that Hamas could have killed 10,000 people or conquered Isreal. Hamas was never a serious military threat to Israel proper.

Now you are making fantastic predictions of the rise of Hamas from the ashes and rubble of Gaza as a threat to the existence of Israel proper.

The Israeli state has already done that to themselves through massive bombings, destruction of infrastruture, genocide, war crimes, starvation, human rights violations and created a human waste/garbage site that is a deadly health crisis.

Israel has lost world wide respect which will lead to loss of trade relations and economic collapse in the long term.

Ask albaby - he coined the term!

Fb noise is anything and everything

Somethings are worth repeating

Hamas needs to make peace with Israel.

The hiding behind people or in tunnels does not mean the group should be fighting.

Gaza was set aside in 2005 when most Isaelis wanted to negotiate.

Hamas in Hebrew often means violence.

Israel won’t put up with it.

Why do you make up false equivalents. Hamas is a tiny terrorists organization. Japan was invading and conquering Korea, China and all the neighboring countries.

That is the problem with many people on this board thinking - that Hamas had the power to conquer Israel.

I don’t believe that is the case at all. Most folks don’t believe Hamas can “conquer” Israel (by itself, at least), but it is backed by Iran, which provides much of its armaments and strategic energy. I also would not characterize Hamas, though, as a “tiny” terrorist organization. It’s population may not be as large as the Taliban had been, for instance, but tens of thousands is not exactly small.

Ok Hamas can’t conquer Israel.

Japan couldn’t conquer the US.

Hamas needs to make peace not war.

The war thing was a bad approach on their part.

Came across this article.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has been launching a forceful attack on Benjamin Netanyahu in both U.S. and Israeli media for sabotaging peace in Gaza and pushing Israel to the brink with Hezbollah in Lebanon.

“For many years, Israel’s political stability in the international arena rested on the absolute support of the United States,” writes Olmert, adding, “The entire Israel Air Force relies completely on American aircraft: fighter planes, transport planes, refueler planes and helicopters. All of Israel’s air power is based on the American commitment to defend Israel. We have no other reliable source for essential supplies of equipment, munitions and advanced weapons that Israel cannot manufacture on its own.”

Olmert’s comments echo those made in November of last year by retired Israeli Major General Yitzhak Brick, who said of the Israeli assault on Gaza,

“All of our missiles, the ammunition, the precision-guided bombs, all the airplanes and bombs, it’s all from the U.S. The minute they turn off the tap, you can’t keep fighting. You have no capability. … Everyone understands that we can’t fight this war without the United States. Period.”

Israel would not be able to conduct this war without the US, which over time has provided Israel with about 80 percent of the country’s weapons imports.

the extent of US aid has raised serious questions about American culpability. “Providing weapons that knowingly and significantly would contribute to unlawful attacks can make those providing them complicit in war crimes,” Human Rights Watch said.

It would seem the USA can end the killing in Gaza anytime time it wishes.

Netanyahu has been charges with war crimes by International Criminal Court. Perhaps the current occupant of the Oval Office should be indicted as an accessory to those war crimes.

And I agree with jaagu that Hamas is NOT an existential threat to the state of Israel.

Great - we really need to be listening to an Australian and an Israeli with axes to grind and political goals to be met.

And certainly, if jaagu and you have determined Hamas is not an existential threat then it is impossible for someone else to have an opposite view.

And I don’t see how the current occupant of the Oval office could be an accessory to war crimes; doesn’t he have absolute immunity?

I’m still waiting for the Hamas tanks & air force to strike at the heart of Israel.
There is realistic different opinions and then there is delusion.

Was not aware this is needed to be an existential threat! Even more; there is a thought in my mind that Israel has already fallen.

They are on backorder. We are still waiting for the Nicaraguan MiGs that Al Haig was howling were going to bomb Texas.

For those who missed it, Israel seized another 5 square miles of West Bank territory last week. This is in addition to seizures of 3 square miles and 1 square mile, earlier. As long as the Pals feel they have suffered an injustice, the fighting will continue.
