Should I capture gains or let my investments ride?

I hear of investors selling off growing stocks to capture the gains. Is that something I should be doing?

Welcome, Jaunderwood. We’'re glad you could join us.

That’s a tough one and pretty much a matter of personal choice.

Some people think the magnificent seven have gone up so much they can’t continue to rise. They are fully valued or even over valued. So take some profits and invest in the ones left behind.

If you worry about it taking some profits to reduce your risk is ok. Simply rebalancing will guide you to do that.

On the otherhand we are talking about well managed industry leaders. It is very likely they will continue to lead.

Personally i would continue to hold them as long as they continue to grow earnings. Ie, let your winners run. And trim if they show signs of weakness.
