It should be the SHTAM of the Universe, the ‘Sincerely Hopeful Total Addressable Market” because really, truly, we’re not going anywhere.
There is no “there” that makes it worthwhile to do anything but send insignificantly small robot drones anywhere, mostly for the curiosity and wonder of learning, but surely not for any commercial purpose other than satellite orbits around our own planet.

I agree that humans don’t need to travel to space. But asteroid mining by unmanned spacecraft is a real thing. We’ve already proved that we can send a ship to an asteroid heading towards Earth and nudge it away from us. You can do the same thing to channel an asteriod to low earth orbit (or a Lagrange orbit between the Earth and the Moon) where it could be mined.
It just depends on low inexpensive Elon is able make his reuseable rockets.
