Transfusion of brain fluid from young mice is a memory-elevating elixir for old animals
Perhaps one day we’ll see strip mall “Spinal Fluid Donation Centers” like the Blood Plasma operations of today.
But given the pain of a spinal tap, I wouldn’t do it for $40. I expect the going rate to be $400 to $4,000 depending on how badly the donor needs the money.
Too scary for me to get a spinal tap. I think I’d prefer an FMT procedure…
“Summary: Transplanting fecal microbiota from young mice to older mice reversed hallmark signs of aging in the gut, brains, and eyes. Transplanting the fecal microbiota from old to young mice had the reverse effect, inducing inflammation in the brain and depleting a key protein associated with healthy vision.”
