For some reason, I was issued a SSA-1099-SM but my wife was issued a regular SSA-1099.
Is there a difference I should know about?
Our Part B and Part D premiums are listed as the same although that was not true in 2023 which is when she started Medicare (in May).
The Benefits Paid check out as expected.

I Googled "What Is Form 1099-SSA SM and can’t find an answer. So I reiterate the original poster’s question. +1
The SM stands for Self Mailer. In practical terms, it does not signify a different type of Social Security benefit statement. Essentially, the form itself is the same.
HUH? What are you trying to say? What does that mean?
SM is for self-mailer. If you pull online or request a replacement it’s SSA1099-R-OP1.
